Lowther - Drive Units
The Lowther PM (Permanent Magnet) series of high efficiency drive units were designed for use in horn-loaded cabinets. They were introduced in 1947 and most models from the range are still manufactured by Lowther today.
The drive units use Alnico magnets of varying flux density and employ 6-inch twin-cone diaphragms rated at 15ohms. Earlier drive units used rubber back and front suspensions surrounds, while later versions used foam surrounds.
